ISG Launches FOTON – Strengthening Guyana’s Commercial Transport Sector
ISG, a subsidiary of MACORP and a trusted name in the Industrial supply sector, is expanding its product portfolio with the official launch of FOTON Trucks, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. The launch, held at the MACORP new facility in Covent Garden, represents a partnership with commercial vehicle powerhouse, FOTON, a global leader in automotive and transport solutions.
Key dignitaries in attendance included Hon. Bishop Juan Edghill, Minister of Public Works, and H.E. Mr. Yang Yang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Guyana, both of whom acknowledged the strategic significance of the partnership and the unveiling of this new product in advancing national development and international collaboration.
Minister Edghill congratulated the company and lauded the timeliness of the investment emphasizing its alignment with the Government’s infrastructure agenda by enhancing access to reliable, high-performance vehicles for the local market.
“Today we see another private investor, a company that has worked with us as a nation for over 32 years, weather the storm and now expanding and bringing in new partners so that we can be properly positioned for Guyana’s infrastructural development and modernisation that is taking place. So, welcome FOTON.”
Ambassador Yang also highlighted the significance of the moment:
“This marks not only a new chapter in business cooperation, but also a strong symbol of the deepening friendship between China and Guyana.” She noted that Chinese trucks, including FOTON models, account for more than 70% of Guyana’s commercial vehicle market, demonstrating the strong confidence that local businesses place in the quality and reliability of Chinese brands.
In his remarks, President and General Manager of MACORP and ISG, Mr. German Consuegra, emphasized the technical strength and support behind this new product.
“As we introduce the FOTON-Auman product line, we are integrating engineers and technicians from this same program into a specialized training track focused on heavy-duty trucks strengthening a backbone of skilled Guyanese professionals and tooling experts and reinforcing the high standard of product support we are known for.”
“It is precisely this foundation that allows us to welcome the FOTON-Auman brand into Guyana with confidence,” he continued. “These trucks whether for construction, mining, logistics, or municipal services represent a new standard in value. And we are launching, besides a product line, an entire ecosystem of support, backed by a team that this market already knows and trusts.”
The FOTON-Auman lineup includes dump trucks, concrete mixers, water and fuel trucks, and a range of specialized configurations, making it a versatile solution for diverse sectors across Guyana.
The launch featured vehicle displays, ceremonial remarks, and direct engagement with local stakeholders, highlighting ISG’s continued commitment to delivering innovation, service excellence, and trusted partnerships to the thriving Guyanese market.
